Even as a small child, I was taught about Him and read about Him and the many things that He said and did while on Earth. Whether it was from my parents, a Sunday School lesson, or my pastor, I had heard about and was familiar with the life of Christ.

On our recent trip to Lancaster, we spent an evening at Sight & Sound Theater. As soon as we arrived, we were amazed by how beautiful it looked, sitting on a hill with a great view of the area.

The theater itself is absolutely stunning, with a beautiful water feature with a lion and a lamb out front. The grounds are immaculate. We felt as though we were entering a palace as we approached.

When we walked in, the lobby wowed us with its high ceilings and pretty decorations. We’ve seen Broadway shows in other theaters, but none were nicer than Sight & Sound. We visited their Branson location two years ago, so we had to see the Lancaster one too. It was just as beautiful—even the bathrooms were spotless!

Inside the theater, a staff member quickly helped us find our seats in the huge 2,000-seat auditorium. Even with so many people, the stadium seating means there isn’t a bad seat anywhere. The panoramic stage is massive, and the tall sets make for an awesome view.

We arrived pretty early (we were a little more than excited to get there). After taking several pictures, we headed over to the gift shop. My daughter found a “Jesus” coloring book that she loves! They have everything from stuffed animals to toys to T-shirts to jewelry and books. There is something for all ages! Everything relates to the presentations they have performed or will be performing, which makes it a little more fun to shop.

Before the presentation, my son wanted to grab some glazed almonds. We could smell them as soon as we walked into Sight & Sound. He shared with each of us, and we all agreed that they were delicious! Sight & Sound has a full concessions stand offering a lot of gourmet foods and beverages.

Once the production started, we felt as though we were a part of the story. With their state-of-the-art effects, phenomenal lighting, and all-around presence, it put you in the center of the story. There were even actors and animals in the aisles throughout the play, bringing the action even closer!

For obvious reasons, I could not take photos or video during the production, but I will tell you this. Even if I could have, there is NO WAY it could have done this production justice.

From their amazing stage sets and props to the detailed costumes and dress, the awe-inspiring musical scores to the phenomenal job by all the cast, it all combined to bring the story of Jesus to life in a way I have never experienced before.

Throughout the play, there were moments of laughter, tears, and even silence as the audience quietly contemplated what they had just seen.
