Building Love Between Parent and Child Amy Smith, January 29, 2018December 22, 2022 Building Love That Lasts I am sure that most of you have heard of the five love languages that adults and children alike have. Getting to know your child’s love language is a big step in building a loving, strong relationship between you and them! This Valentine’s Day, think a little outside the box. Figure out your child’s love language and truly show them your love for them in a way they can feel! Typically your child will have one dominant love language but then have several others as a close tie for their second love language. In case you do not already know, these are the five love languages of a child: Physical Touch Quality Time Words of Affirmation Gift Acts of Service My ten-year-old son’s dominant love language is words of affirmation but he also loves gifts. He doesn’t expect gifts from us and doesn’t even want larger gifts. Small, thoughtful gifts are what speak to his heart. He is beyond grateful for any gift but especially those he can tell we put thought into. Gifts like this LEGO BrickHeadz Bee did a great job making his heart happy! My husband and I know he loves (and I mean LOVES) anything LEGO. If you don’t believe me, make sure you check out the video HERE where he finds out we are going to Legoland in the spring. Aside from knowing he loves LEGO, the bee has several special meanings behind it. My son is typically a happy, go lucky type of kid that loves to be active (not hyper but active). He is not one that you would typically see sitting around doing nothing! He is the type that will go out to the playground to challenge himself to see how many pull-ups he can do on the monkey bars or you will find him in his room playing basketball or building a Lego set on rainy days. I often call him our “busy bee”. Another reason the Bee was special is that my parents have had bee hives for several years to produce honey. My son loves their honey but has also enjoyed hearing his Grandma and Papa teach him about their bees. The LEGO BrickHeadz Valentine’s Bee even comes with a pot of honey! Often, he will come in with a flower for me after going on a hike. (Typically children will show love in the manner of their love language. Thoughtful gifts are something he also enjoys GIVING) The LEGO BrickHeadz Bee has a total of a dozen roses and two sunflowers giving it even more of a sentimental meaning. I told him that the Bee reminded me of him. He LOVES it. To add to showing him my love, I also sat with him giving him words of affirmation and spending quality time with him!
