Don’t Miss the Little Things Amy Smith, March 21, 2022March 21, 2022 Don’t Miss the Little Things Let’s face it! We are all busy. In fact, many of us at times are probably too busy. We try to plan every waken moment to maximize everything that we think has to be done, often with a way too much ambition of what can be accomplished in a given day. Things happen that derail our plans, a task takes much longer than we expected, and before we know it our day is filled with stress and frustration instead of the success and accomplishment we were hoping for. In these moments of frustration, it is very easy to forget the blessings so many of us enjoy and take for granted in our lives. Sometimes our attitude is not based on a change of circumstances, but a change of perspectives. Consider these things: The job that is causing you to seemingly pull your hair out, is also the very thing that is helping to provide food, shelter, and other necessities for you and those you love. That third load of laundry that you are folding today means that you are blessed to have clothes to wear and if you are doing that much laundry, probably means there is a family that you have to love. The mound of dirty dishes after a family meal means that unlike nearly 1 in 9 people in the world you and your family were blessed to have food on the table. The little boy or girl who has called out mom or dad for the 1,000th time loves you, admires you, and wants to be with you. That fuel that is way too expensive at the next fill up means you have a vehicle to travel further, faster, and easier than many people today who still travel by foot, bike, or with the help of animals. While it is so cliche to look for the silver lining in each cloud, the reality is even in the rains of burdens, the flowers of blessings grow. Take time today to enjoy the sunshine, appreciate your children, be thankful for what you do have, and see the beauty even in the chaos of life. It might not change your situation, but it just might change your focus. Connect with My Four and More on Social Media!
