But if you don’t have the necessities for taking care of your baby, things can get hard. There are some obvious essential newborn items that parents don’t forget to buy for their babies when shopping before delivery. These may include things like receiving blankets and baby clothes. However, there are some not-so-obvious things people don’t think of and only see their value after their babies have already arrived. To avoid the hassles of looking for stuff after delivery, check whether you already have the following items, and if not, consider getting them as they will come in handy. 1. Burp Cloths Burp cloths are essential, not only when feeding a baby but also throughout the day. These clothes protect your own clothes from baby spit-ups. When getting burp clothes, go for large, absorbent ones as they are more protective. 2. Baby Comfort Pillows Newborns don’t need pillows when sleeping. Instead, they should sleep on flat surfaces free from pillows and other soft bedding for safe sleeping. However, they need a nursing and pillow seat for baby. These pillows keep them comfortable when feeding and support them once they start sitting. 3. Diaper Cream Diaper cream is essential for every baby. It helps heal diaper rashes and prevent them from occurring. Diaper rashes make babies uncomfortable and should be avoided at all costs. Diaper creams should be applied after every diaper change for every result. 4. Baby-Friendly Laundry Detergent Your regular detergent could be too harsh for your baby. Get a baby-friendly laundry detergent for them. These detergents are usually mild and sensitive to babies’ delicate skins. 5. Baby Socks Baby socks may not be on any soon-to-be-parents’ priority or gift list. After all, why use socks when you can just have them wear cute pajamas that can keep them warm? There is a blanket, too, and the room will be temperature-controlled. However, baby socks are still important. They help regulate the baby’s body temperature, whether they’re exposed to hot or cold weather. Moreover, cable knit baby socks are great as winter wear. Not only are they cute, but they can keep your baby warm all day and night long. 6. Baby Monitor Since babies are very delicate, you need to monitor them from time to time. A baby monitor helps you do this, especially when the baby is in another room. You can do other things in other rooms comfortably with a monitor. You can get either an audio or video model. 7. Nursing Pads Of course, nursing pads are for the mother. It’s normal for leakage to occur when you are breastfeeding. Nursing pads are good at keeping your clothes dry and clean. They are available in reusable and disposable types. 8. Bath Thermometer Testing the heat of your baby’s bathing water using the wrist is not cool. When you use your wrist, you can’t always be sure if the water temperature is ideal. A bath thermometer is much better for testing temperature. 9. First Aid Kit Sometimes, unpleasant things happen to babies. These include falling sick and getting injured. When this happens, you need to take them to the hospital. However, a first aid kit is essential as it can help you take care of your baby before you get to the hospital. Some of the things these kits contain include a thermometer, bandages, and antiseptic ointment. As a parent, you buy several things for the baby before birth. Check your baby’s items and check whether you have bought the things babies need, including those mentioned above. You can easily forget some essential things, especially if you haven’t raised a baby before.
