Many children who are in the classroom for Valentine’s Day may be planning to bring valentines for everyone in the class. This could mean quality time spent with classmates, but quality time can also be a family activity or just spending special quality time alone with your child for Valentine’s Day. Spending quality time with your child is crucial because it shows that you are willing to put the quality of your relationship ahead of other concerns. Quality time can include having a heartfelt conversation, participating in a mutually enjoyable activity (such as making these delicious brownie bites), or just spending unpressured and uninterrupted time with your child. Spending quality time with your children allows them to feel connected to you and secure in your love for them. It also gives them the opportunity to see you as a person rather than just their parent. Children who have quality time with their parents are happier, more secure, and have a greater sense of self-esteem. Spending quality time is important for all parents, especially those who work full-time and are not home during the day. Many children only see their parents when they get home from school or some other activity, so quality time is more important for these children than others since the time is more limited. Quality time can also be harmful if it is not quality. Children will not feel secure in your love if quality time is spent discussing how badly they did at a sport, the car you just bought, or another topic that is not quality. If you make these Brownie Bites, be sure to encourage your child even if they make a mess or make a mistake when trying to be creative. To spend quality time with your child, consider these tips: Take the child out to lunch or dinner Play video games together Go for a walk or bike ride Attend school events Read a book Play a board game Make Brownie Bites! These are just some ideas, but quality time can be spent doing anything that makes your child feel they are the only one in the world at that moment in time. Your child would love nothing more than to spend quality time with you for Valentine’s Day. My daughter and I had fun making these Valentine’s Day brownie bites that she shared with her cousins. We thought we would share with all of you since they turned out so well! Here is how we made the Wilton Brownie Bites We started out by making brownies with just some store-bought brownie mix. We placed the batter in the Wilton Heart Shaped Silicone Mold. With silicone, you do not have to spray it with cooking spray but I usually do simply because it makes the clean-up a little easier. We only filled each of the heart-shaped molds about halfway. Our plan was to melt chocolate after the brownies were cooked (and cooled) and fill the rest of the mold up with the melted chocolate. So, we chose to only fill the mold halfway with the brownie batter. After the brownies were baked and had cooled to room temperature, we melted the Wilton chocolates and spooned the melted chocolate on top of the brownies until it was filled to just under the top rim of the mold. Once we were done, we placed the mold tray inside the freezer so that the chocolate topping would harden all the way through. After about 10 minutes, we pulled the tray out and removed the heart-shaped brownies from the mold. The “top” chocolate was now the base of our brownie bites. My daughter loved helping up to this point but the next part was her favorite. She used the Wilton Cookie Icing and decorated the tops of the brownies and then even added some Wilton sprinkles to the tops of a few. Sharing the Love She was so proud of herself for making them look so pretty! Later that evening, we were meeting my sister and her two boys, one of her girls, and her two foster children. My daughter bagged up some of her “Brownie Bite Masterpieces” to show off to her cousins. They ALL agreed that the brownie bites didn’t just look pretty but they were delicious. Needless to say, those brownies were GONE in no time. My daughter loves special time with us. She also loves being artistic. Making these Wilton Brownie Bites was the highlight of her week because they combined both quality time and art! Connect with My Four and More on Social Media!
