Kings Dominion Amusement Park Amy Smith, June 10, 2019June 24, 2019 Kings Dominion Amusement Park Nothing says summer quite like a visit to an amusement park! Kings Dominion Amusement Park is an amazing way to get the good times rolling! Located in Doswell, Virginia, Kings Dominion sets on 400 acres. With over 60 rides, shows, and attractions, you and your family will have plenty to do in Doswell, Virginia! Our family was able to visit Kings Dominion over Memorial Day Weekend. I must say, from the get-go, it was an amazing way to kick off our summer. We were met just inside the entrance with a prominent display of red, white, and blue, as well as, patriotic-themed music played throughout the park. As we made our way through International Street at the front of the park we couldn’t help but comment on how beautiful the park was. With its quaint store fronts and amazing water fountains, it was the perfect place to snag a few photos. Not to mention, it was really fun to watch the water “dance”, especially with the Eiffel Tower in the background! As pretty as it was from the ground the views from the top were just gorgeous! Roller Coasters Our boys being the adrenaline junkies that they are, were ready for some roller coasters! With 12 world class, high-intensity roller coasters, Kings Dominion was up for the challenge! From Dominator to Anaconda, Flight of Fear to Intimidator 305, they had a thrilling day riding every one of these coasters! The only problem through the day was trying to pick their favorite! One of their favorites was the all-new Twisted Timbers! This coaster is one of the first of its kind as it combines an old school style wood structure with a modern steel track! The results are dynamic and give its riders a smooth yet thrilling experience! It was by far one of our their absolute favorites, not just at Kings Dominion but of all the coasters they have ridden! Some times, with the age difference in our kids (16, 12, and 6) it can be difficult to find a place where all three can have a great time. Kings Dominion was added to one of our favorite places to go as a family. Planet Snoopy As we entered their smaller kids area, Planet Snoopy, our daughter was so excited to see so many things SHE could do! Planet Snoopy is a 14-acre area with 20 rides, all with a Peanuts theme. It, most definitely, was made with children and families in mind. Not to mention, the many activities, live shows, and even chances for hugs and photos with Snoopy and the rest of the Peanut Gang! While our daughter rode most of the rides in Planet Snoopy, there were several she couldn’t stop talking about. She really enjoyed Joe Cools Driving School. This is a really cute set up that allows “little drivers”’ to drive their own cars around an adorable little town. Another one of her favorites was the Linus Launcher. I had never seen a ride like this one either. Each rider lays on their stomach and buckled in. As the ride began, each rider began circling going up and down as though they were flying! Soak City Of course, with the fun of summer comes the heat of the summer, as well. Fortunately, with admission to the water park, Soak City included, you will have a super fun way to refresh! Soak City is a 20-acre water park that includes multiple high-intensity water slides, children’s play areas, a lazy river, and two huge wave pools! After a morning of riding roller coasters, a ride down Lazy Rider was just what we needed to be refreshed! Once done there, our family made a quick run over to play in the waves of Tidal Wave Bay. Not only did it help us cool off but the giggles and smiles of our kids was a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer day! After a few more roller coasters and another visit to Planet Snoopy, it was time for our day to come to an end. Not before an amazing fireworks show! The sky came to life as it was lit with dazzling colors and assorted shapes and effects from the fireworks themselves. It was a really great show from start to finish but the finale was spectacular! Fast Passes Fast Passes are a GREAT investment, especially if you are only planning to spend one day at the park. We were able to hop on and off of the rides without very much of a wait time, thanks to the fast passes! Those can be purchased with your ticket or even at the park after you have already purchased your ticket. So whether you have teens, little ones or are even if you are just looking to spend a day with your “special someone”, Kings Dominion Amusement Park offers something for everyone!
