Do you have a hard time staying focused on your work or studies even after you turned off your phone and logged out of your social media accounts? Do you want to achieve more without stress, struggle and too much wasted time? Then you must boost your concentration! Here are seven easy and practical ways to improve focus and make even the hardest of tasks a piece of cake. Get enough rest The first and most important element that has the biggest effect on concentration is rest. In order to achieve any focus, your mind needs to be calm and rested. A brain that doesn’t get enough sleep is scattered, your motivation will be diminished and you will be very moody. So, make sure to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night and take regular breaks throughout the day. Going to sleep and waking up at regular times can help you achieve a good sleep discipline and better concentration. However, too much sleep is also not ideal for your focus. Oversleeping during weekends will definitely disrupt your routine and natural rhythm and make you feel groggy and sluggish. Focus It’s a well-known fact that meditation helps with concentration, yet it’s still not practiced by many people. Meditation will not only clear your mind, but it will also put you in the right mind frame to tackle different tasks and help you work on your concentration techniques. So, start your day five minutes earlier or take a break from your work and try to meditate. You might struggle with focusing at first, but you’ll get much better in time and manage to relax and focus. Avoid multitasking For a long time, people considered multitasking as something that can help you with your work, but the truth is not so amazing. Multitasking indeed shortens the time it takes to finish a job, but it also prevents you from focusing on what’s important. Additionally, you’re less likely to achieve your best results while you’re constantly jumping between different tasks. So, even if it might seem tempting, don’t indulge in multitasking! Play the right music Many people benefit greatly from music, since it helps them focus, relax and relieve stress. However, others perceive music as a big distraction that only makes them want to sing along and boogie. But if you fall into the first category, feel free to blast your favorite beats while your work. Buy some quality headphones that also cancel surrounding noise and you’ll get to totally immerse into your work. However, make sure to find a model that feels comfortable on your head and ears and doesn’t create any pains that can pose a distraction. Pick the right environment When you need to work and really concentrate on the task at hand, you must choose the right place. For instance, you’ll always be able to focus more in quiet, comfy and stress-free environments. Libraries, study rooms and private spaces are always your safest bets. They are usually very peaceful, temperature-controlled and full of comfortable and appropriate furniture. Opt for light and healthy foods Just remember how you felt the last time you overate or consumed too much junk food. You probably felt very tired, sleepy and uncomfortable. So, if you want to boost your concentration, make sure to develop healthier eating habits. Introduce more so-called “brain foods” rich in antioxidants, good fats, minerals and vitamins. Blueberries, avocados, green veggies, fish and beets are especially packed with nutrients great for focus. Even dark chocolate can help you battle inflammations and fill your body with antioxidants! Also, try to pay more attention to your portion sizes. Too much of anything is bad for your stomach and will make you feel sluggish and sleepy. Get moving Regular exercise can also have amazing benefits for your concentration. Physical activity releases endorphins that improve concentration, boost motivation and fight depression. It will also refill your brain with oxygen (especially if you exercise outdoors) and help clear your mind of built-up energy that can make you distracted! Additionally, regular physical activity also slows down brain aging and helps battle Alzheimer’s and dementia! It will take some time to get used to these concentration-boosting habits and tricks, but once you give them a try, you’ll undoubtedly notice many positive changes. You’ll soon perform tasks and study quickly and with ease!
