Now… on to the tips for burning calories when you can’t make it to the gym… or in addition to a gym workout for added calorie burning. 1. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator Stairwells force you to work against gravity; even going down the stairs, it will burn more calories than being ferried by a machine. It will benefit your home, but it will also benefit your health as well. Personally, I end up breaking a sweat every time I paint or try to fix something tedious around the house. Engaging in home improvement tasks such as remodeling or painting can burn between 200 and 400 calories per hour, depending on the type of work.
