There are many mountains and national parks that you can visit, as well as wine tours, beaches, and unique attractions like Coober Pedy’s Hollywood Sign and Pichi Richi Railway. Here are some places where you can spend your time if you find yourself in South Australia during the summer months: Pichi Richi Railway The Pichi Richi Railway is a heritage railway that runs from Quorn to Port Augusta. It is the oldest remaining example of a narrow-gauge main line in Australia and offers a glimpse into South Australia’s past. The railway officially opened on December 1, 1876, and was primarily used to transport ore and coal between mines in the Flinders Ranges region and ports at Port Augusta. Today it provides scenic views along its route while also offering several locations where passengers can stop off for a bite to eat or some wine tasting at local wineries. The train departs from Quorn Station twice daily (except Sundays) on its 90-kilometer journey through the Flinders Ranges region before arriving at Peterborough Station where passengers will find numerous shops selling Western shirts womens, souvenirs, crafts, food items as well as an old-fashioned ice cream parlor called ‘Darbys Chocolate Shop’ which was established in 1926 by Mr. Darby himself! Coorong National Park Coorong National Park is one of the most beautiful places in South Australia. It’s a place where you can go fishing, and camping and enjoy the company of many native animals. Located north of Adelaide, the area is known for its beaches and fishing spots, but it’s also home to the Naracoorte Caves National Park. The park is spread out over 84 square miles (215 km2), making it one of South Australia’s largest national parks. It has been home to indigenous Australians since at least 10,000 years ago when they first arrived here by boat from Tasmania. The peninsula was named after British politician Edward John Eyre who explored the Yorke Peninsula in 1839 as part of his journey overland from Adelaide to King George Sound in Western Australia.
