Happy 40th Anniversary to the Movie, Grease Amy Smith, May 23, 2018January 5, 2023 Happy 40th Anniversary to the Movie, Grease Written by Jess June 16, 2018, marks the 40th anniversary of what I consider to be one of the greatest musicals on film. Let me see those raised hands for any of you readers who happen to have a movie that you could watch repeatedly and not tire of it. My hand is lifted high, and that film is Grease. Grease was my first “big girl” movie. I had to stay home from a family outing due to sickness, and my mom decided to turn our evening into a night I will always remember. A friend cooked dinner for us, complete with a pineapple upside-down cake. My mom told me that she thought that I was old enough to watch a movie that she was “sure that you will love” called Grease. While it took me a while to acquire a taste for pineapple upside-down cake, I was instantly a fan of the movie. I grew up watching old Hollywood musicals. The music, along with the characters grabbed my attention and has never let go. I introduced Grease to my kids a few years ago, and it was a big hit! Even after nearly 40 years, it is a classic still enjoyed by people of all ages. Forty years ago, after the original release, Grease is back and better than ever! Join Sandy, Danny, Riz, Kenickie, Frenchy, the loveable (and hilarious) Ms. Hodel, and the rest of Rydell High’s students and staff as they sing and dance their way into our hearts once again. Sing your heart out as you relive the story of Danny and Sandy and their friends (and a few foes). Paramount, along with director Randal Kleiser, have restored the original film using modern technology to deliver 4k Ultra HD resolution and crisper audio quality. In addition to the original movie, the 40th Anniversary release includes interviews with the cast, deleted scenes, a sing-along, an alternate ending (!), and much more. Enjoy the DVD’s yearbook-style 16-page bonus booklet that takes you on a photo journey through the best scenes in the film. The set includes a DVD, Blu-Ray, and the “Rydell High yearbook.” In addition to the 40th Anniversary special release DVD, don’t miss out on the chance to own Grease, Grease 2, and Grease: Live! in a collection called the Grease Collection which is housed in a special case to resemble a locker. This collection has been released for the first time on Blu-ray. Share on FacebookTweetFollow usSave Reviews greaseMovieparamount
Grease – soooo nostalgic. I don’t know how many times I watched that whenI was a child. And he was so gorgeous handsome. 😉 Humor fun too in it. Olivia and John were tops!!!! They should make a come back now whether real serious or humorous.
I loved watching Grease and never get tired of seeing it over and over. I can’t believe it’s celebrating 40 years. Time sure does fly! Olivia Newton John and John Travolta were great in it.
Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 40 years! I love the music, dancing, story line – it’s just a fantastic movie!
I always enjoyed the singing in this movie. There are parts where there are not great morals being taught, but you can to older children use those parts as teaching moments. Example Riz thinking she was pregnant.
