Our Favorite Pennsylvania Campground Amy Smith, August 7, 2019 We Have Found Our Favorite Pennsylvania Campground For a history buff, Gettysburg is one of those places that just belongs on the bucket list. While my husband was sure of the historical sights he wanted to see, we were unsure where to stay overnight. The Problem With a Hotel Now, when it is just my husband and me on vacation, a hotel is great. When you add three kids ages 16, 12, and 6 to the mix, it can quickly get really cramped! KOA Gettysburg offered everything we were looking for and more! We stayed in one of the deluxe cabins offered at the campground and found it was comfortable, roomy, and just what we needed for our family of five! Plus, our kids loved the log cabin feel. Inside the Cabin Our cabin included a kitchen, dining table (perfect for games) and a really cute porch with a swing! While we stayed in the deluxe cabin, KOA Gettysburg has something for everyone! From deluxe cabins to one-room cabins, tent sites, and RV sites of all sizes. If you can use it to vacation in (other than a houseboat), KOA is ready for you! Beyond the awesome accommodations, we were blown away by all the activities there was available on-site! It really turned the campground itself into its own destination! At the Campground Now, if you have followed our family long at all, you know my husband is really a big kid. He and my boys rented some of the three-wheel fun bikes. With the hills in the campground, their laughs and smiles told the story of how much fun they were having. The kids headed over to the pool for some splashing and swimming to beat the summer heat! After cooling off we went to visit the jumping pad. It is an unground inflatable of sorts that our kids absolutely loved! Surrounding the jumping pad were games such as oversized Jenga, Connect Four, and Checkers! My daughter loved pretending she had her very own cabin… HER SIZE! In the area where all the games are, they have a miniture cabin for the kids to play inside! Food Options As we made our way back, we stopped in at the newly renovated camp store for some ice cream! It was a perfect way to end such a fun day! The lady working the ice-cream part of the store overheard my daughter saying she hopes that they give her a pink straw in her milkshake. Sure enough, the worker slipped a pink straw inside the shake. My daughter was over the top excited that she got the pink straw she wanted! We ordered pizza from a local pizza place. Just ask one of the workers in the camp store for a list of food nearby. They will deliver directly to the campground! Additional Activities In addition, the campground also offers mini-golf, gem mining, and planned activities like a flashlight scavenger hunt! Bringing your dog along for the trip? No worries, they even have a clean dog park for your fur babies! With its confident location, beautiful scenery, and its many activities, KOA Gettysburg is the perfect choice to make your vacation full of fun, relaxation and most of all great memories!
