Chicago’s Shoreline Sightseeing Architectural Tour #TravelReview Amy Smith, October 19, 2021October 19, 2021 Entertaining and Educating Shoreline Sightseeing Architectural Tour On the Chicago River Growing up in the Chicagoland area, students are expected to learn a lot about Illinois history including details about the city of Chicago. Regardless of how many books you read, tests you have taken, and even walks through the city, there is nothing more educating than a trip on the Shoreline Sightseeing Architectural River Tour. That is where history meets modern day and all comes to life! Discover the Beauty of Chicago I have walked the city many times in my past but seeing one of America’s most beautiful cities from the river just adds a whole new perspective for me! The architectural tour is a 75-minute tour where you learn about approximately 40 different Chicago landmarks. My sister and I, both now living in North Carolina, took our kids on the Shoreline Sightseeing Architectural River Tour. My uncle and cousin, who live in the Chicagoland area, joined us. Even my uncle who is very educated and has lived in the area all his life learned so much from the trip! Even Children Will LOVE the Tour To be honest, I was expecting the younger of our children to ONLY enjoy it because of the boat ride itself. I was SHOCKED when even my 4-year-old daughter was talking about a few of the things our tour guide had said. Our tour guide had a great sense of humor which allowed all of our kids to focus in and enjoy the learning aspect. Of course, they also loved waving to the people on the bridges as we would pass under! Informative Yet Entertaining The tour guide was great with interacting with everyone on the boat by answering any questions asked. She seemed very well educated about even the smallest details about the buildings. She gave us details about who built the buildings, what kind of architectural styles were used on the buildings, the use of the building when first built compared to what it is used for now, and historical events that occurred in or around the buildings. While taking in all the great details of the buildings, the guide made sure no one missed out on some of the best photo opportunities. She gave us plenty of notice to make sure we had our cameras ready for certain areas of the river that had the most breathtaking views. Drinks and Snacks Available Throughout the city, one thing everyone knows is that food and drinks are expensive! Not on the Shoreline Sightseeing boats. A soda is only $1 which was much more affordable than the drinks we purchased right before the tour for close to $3! My kids enjoyed a special treat… a Shirley Temple (Sprite, cherry juice, and a cherry). We had a GREAT time on the tour! I would highly recommend it if even if you live in the city! It is NOT just for tourists. Book your tour today! Shoreline Sightseeing also offers firework tours and lake tours as well.
