Three Chinese Treasures – Adoption Story Amy Smith, November 3, 2017December 16, 2022 Three Chinese Treasures – Adoption Stories Written by Selina Bergy, mother (biological and adoptive) and missionary to South Africa I found this picture and couldn’t help posting it. It’s from our family day several weeks ago. These three Chinese treasures. They are a ray of sunshine and giggles in our home. They are sweetness and preciousness and beauty. They are also full of trauma, loss, insecurities, triggers, medical needs, and more. Adoption isn’t about rainbows and happily-ever-after endings. It’s not about parents finding fulfillment in a BABY or the prestige of “rescuing an orphan”. It’s dedication and selflessness and showing up to LOVE every single day. It’s about holding on when the triggers come and the child is wishing anyone but YOU was their parent. And it’s holding on when unexpected, unknown, and unplanned things happen. But if you can plan for the intense ride, and determine you’re not going to get off before the roller coaster stops (no matter what!), you will experience the beauty that few ever experience. You will find hidden joy in the midst of loss. You will find the priceless wonder that is the miracle of adoption. And you’ll get moments like the one pictured above, where three of your beauties smile and it takes your breath away. National Adoption Month… This month, come back each day to read a little more about adoption. I will be sharing stories about our experiences and even have some guest writers who have experienced adoption from all different aspects! I hope to not only bring you “stories” but I hope that you can walk away saying that you are far more educated about adoption. Please be respectful of any comments made below. Remember that not every story is the same and there ARE some out there hurting because of adoption. Check out our Holiday Product Guide! Connect with My Four and More on Social Media!
