Lacking Contentment Amy Smith, February 8, 2022February 5, 2022 Lacking Contentment Proverbs 27:20 “…the eyes of man are never satisfied.” How true is that? Why do we have such a great need to have more? My heart is heavy after reading I Kings 21. Jezebel set the plan in motion that proved to be catastrophic for her children. She sealed their doom with her selfish pride. She and her husband had everything they could have possibly wanted or needed, yet they weren’t satisfied. They had to have one more vineyard. It’s easy to point fingers and accuse them, but don’t we all want one more “vineyard”… I see a stark contrast to Ahab in Philippians 4:11. Paul is imprisoned when he penned these words: “…I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Paul had his eyes on eternity. Ahab was looking at the here and now. CONTENTMENT I preach it to my kids, but do I live it? There must be a balance between what I say and what I do. They are going to hear what I say but they are going to be watching to see if I Do what I SAY. I pray that I’m pointing my kiddos towards a selfless life of servitude ~ instead of a selfish life of empty gain. “There is one thing more that I would like to leave to my family – Christian faith. With that they would be rich did I Not leave one shilling. Without that they would be poor Had I given them the whole world.” ~Patrick Henry~ ~ Guest post contributed by Beth Langley. Maybe that has something to do with one’s level of spiritual communication. At least, considering my own patterns. But isn’t, or would a man being content, play a role in just simply making better or being at peace with his surroundings, his grind, his walk – be it consistent or not, at be the point to be made? I do like how you’ve present such a ponder, as one sits reflecting…
