Pantry Organization Tips Amy Smith, February 19, 2022February 19, 2022 Pantry Organization Tips Are you looking for pantry organization tips? Here are some pantry tips to help you get started! Why Should You Have an Organized Pantry An organized pantry is important for several reasons. If you have an organized pantry, you’ll get rid of any food that has gone bad or may go out of date before it’s used, which will save you money on groceries. If your pantry is organized, it will also be easier to find exactly what you’re looking for when you’re putting a meal together. If your pantry organization system is organized, it will also be easier to clean and maintain the pantry on a regular basis. Before starting your organized pantry, gather all of your supplies so that you’ll have everything ready to go when you start. You may want to get a few baskets for your organized pantry, depending on the size of your pantry. You’ll need several different sized baskets to organize your pantry so that everything is easy to see and reach. The next step in organizing would be to take everything out of your pantry and clean the pantry space well. Wipe down the shelves and sweep. You may even want to re-paint and re-cover the shelves with fresh shelf liners. What color should you choose for a kitchen pantry? Choosing a color for any part of your house can be a daunting task, so it’s best to consult color charts and a color wheel. When you are choosing a color for the pantry, here are some techniques that you can use: 1) Draw up a color swatch made up of different colors to find out which color adds depth to the color of the pantry. 2) Choose the color according to the color combinations that you prefer. 3) Ask the people who will be using the pantry what color they want it to be. Choosing a lighter color for your kitchen pantry can make it appear cleaner and bigger. Look at What Items You Have to Come up With a Plan Look at what food items you have and decide the best way to store them. Plan out where you would like to place the specific items. For example, you may have children who are independent but aren’t very tall. You may decide to place the foods they can fix for themselves on the bottom shelf while placing food items higher that you do not want them to have access to. Place items on the top shelf that you do not use as often such as cupcake liners, boxes of brownies, special sauces used on occasion, etc. Check Expiration Dates Take a look through all of your pantry food and find any items that need to be used soon. These foods should be placed toward the front of your pantry so they can easily be reached when you want them next. Then, take a look at pantry food that is further into its expiration date. These foods should be placed back in the pantry first so they will be in the back of your pantry to be used later. Of course, toss the items that are past the expiration date and donate food items that may be foods you will not eat. Organizing Spices Do you have items such as spices and oil bottles sitting out on counters? It’s time to get these pantry staples organized! Place these pantry items in pantry organizers, which are designed to hold pantry goods. You can buy pantry organizers that will help you keep your spices organized and safe from pantry pests such as pantry moths or beetles. Sealed Pantry Containers for Open Items If you have cereal, noodles, flour, sugar, and other pantry staples that need to be kept fresh in their original containers, buy some sealed pantry containers and label the date when you opened them. These will be pantry staples that can last much longer. Once you’ve used pantry food, don’t forget to label it with the date you opened the pantry item so you know how long you have before throwing it away! Desired end result: A pantry that is well organized and makes looking for items much easier when cooking! Connect with My Four and More on Social Media!
