Never Promised a Weary Free Life Amy Smith, April 23, 2021April 23, 2021 I’m TIRED My body is tired. My mind is tired. My emotions are tired. My heart is tired. Pretty sad huh? Life is exhausting. There are deadlines, arguments to referee, messes to clean, and the list could go on and on and on… Being a mom is the hardest hat I have to wear. There are days I just don’t think I can take one more step, clean one more spill, run one more errand…you know the drill. Then in the middle of an ordinary rush, rush, rush kind of day it happened. I stopped and looked around. I have three of the most precious children ever created. I have a husband who loves and provides tirelessly for us. We all have healthy minds and bodies. We have a comfortable home to rest in. We have a church that teaches and shows God’s love. And the list goes on and on and on… We were never promised a “weary free” life. We were promised that He will give rest to the weary. But God will not chase us to give us rest. I have found, in my life, I grow tired when I’m working in MY strength. Isaiah 40:31 says that He will renew our strength when we wait on Him. So many times I struggle through life on my own instead of claiming His promise and soaring with the eagles. We must come to Him and leave our burdens at His feet. I hope you find rest in Him on this Labor Day. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 ~ Never Promised a Weary Free Life Guest post was contributed by Beth Langley.
