The Absence of Faith Amy Smith, January 21, 2022January 21, 2022 The Absence of Faith Guest post contributed by Beth Langley. “Before I begin, I have to put out a disclaimer. I am by no means an expert on anything, but especially not the Christian walk. I am, however, a mom trying my best to live a life so that my children will, “…arise up, and call her blessed…” Prov. 31:28. I would be honored if you so choose to join me in my quest. F.A.I.T.H A small word with such a big definition. Our entire Christian walk relies on that five letter word. Why is complete faith in Christ so hard to achieve? We have so many avenues to study, so many books to enlighten our understanding of Christ…and yet less faith than ever. So many times in the Bible we see examples of “Great” faith from ordinary people. Matthew 9:27-31 tells of a couple of blind men who asked Jesus to restore their sight. Jesus’ response in verse 29 humbles me, “…According to your faith be it unto you.” Absence of Faith Could it be that we are lacking where it really matters because of our lack of faith? If Christ made the same statement to me , “…According to your faith be it unto you.”, what would I receive? We are given example after example of people who changed the course of this world, all because they had an unwavering faith in their Creator. It’s easy to get discouraged because of the absence of faith in our lives, but we are in pretty good company when it comes to doubt. Mark 4:35-41 reveals that the disciples, the ones witnessing His life first-hand, had “NO” faith. Sometimes the waves crash and the wind howls in our lives. Peace seems to evade us at every turn. The lightning strikes are getting closer and closer. This, my friend, is when F.A.I.T.H. steps in. A faith never tested is no faith at all. Hebrews 11:21 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Connect with My Four and More on Social Media!
