Kings Dominion Vacation – Not Just An Amusement Park Amy Smith, June 25, 2019February 1, 2022 A Kings Dominion Vacation Many think of amusement parks as a one-day event. Turn your fun-filled day into a vacation at Kings Dominion. We did and had a GREAT time! Let me tell you all about it! The KOA Cabin We arrived at The Richmond North/Kings Dominion KOA. Checking in was a breeze. We parked the car and went inside the lodge to get all checked in. We were quickly greeted by several employees and knew right where we needed to go to start the check-in process. Once we received a map of the campground and the keys to our cabin, we took a quick stroll in and around the lodge to see what was available. Between the gift shop/small grocery store, the pool, the outdoor games, the playground, and the pavilion, we knew we were set for a fun weekend. Not to mention, Kings Dominion was right next door! The cabin was an absolutely perfect set up for us. It was exactly like the tiny houses we had seen on all of the shows! A small bedroom with a queen sized bed, two side by side full bathrooms, a living room with vaulted ceilings, a mini kitchen, and even a desk/dining area. Upstairs, our boys had their very own lofts. On each side of the staircase was a loft with a queen mattress on each side. You can find out more details about what all the deluxe cabins offer HERE. Jake’s Place & 7-Eleven We got all settled in our beautiful cabin, our daughter took a short nap and then we went to eat at Jake’s Place. Jake’s Place is an old gas station that was turned into a restaurant. It sure was delicious. If you look below, you will see my son’s Route 54 burger with four different meats on it. On the way back to the campground, we stopped in for some 7-Eleven Cherry-Coke Slurpees (one of my childhood favs). Kings Dominion Park We kept our vehicle parked at the KOA and enjoyed a ride over to the park in the shuttle. With over 60 rides, shows, and attractions, you and your family will have plenty to do in Doswell, Virginia! Our boys being the adrenaline junkies that they are, were ready for some roller coasters! With 12 world class, high-intensity roller coasters, Kings Dominion was up for the challenge! From Dominator to Anaconda, Flight of Fear to Intimidator 305, they had a thrilling day riding every one of these coasters! The only problem through the day was trying to pick their favorite! As we entered their smaller kids area, Planet Snoopy, our daughter was so excited to see so many things SHE could do! Planet Snoopy is a 14-acre area with 20 rides, all with a Peanuts theme. It, most definitely, was made with children and families in mind. Not to mention, the many activities, live shows, and even chances for hugs and photos with Snoopy and the rest of the Peanut Gang! Of course, with the fun of summer comes the heat of the summer, as well. Fortunately, with admission to the water park, Soak City included, you will have a super fun way to refresh! Soak City is a 20-acre water park that includes multiple high-intensity water slides, children’s play areas, a lazy river, and two huge wave pools! You can find more about our day at Kings Dominion HERE. Dining Pass Equipped with our All Day Dining Pass, we set out for a great day at the park! The Dining Pass guarantees you won’t go hungry!
