Flyaway Indoor Skydiving Amy Smith, June 20, 2017March 14, 2024 Your Adventure Awaits at Flyaway Indoor Skydiving Written by Josh Smith Jumping out of an airplane may not be top on my list of to-dos but skydiving in a more controlled environment… that’s all me! Flyaway Indoor Skydiving was such an awesome adventure for my boys and me to take part in this past week in Pigeon Forge, TN. About Flyaway Indoor Skydiving Flyaway is the very first vertical wind tunnel in America. It is a popular training resource for: sport skydivers competition teams military units Although it can be used for more technical training, individuals with absolutely no training can also go just for fun! Instructors will teach you everything you need to know about flying indoors! Our Experience My 14-year-old son has always been an adrenaline junkie. So, this was RIGHT up his alley. My 10-year-old son is our more cautious child. He was a little nervous before the flight but once he was geared up, he was beyond ready to fly! My wife and I’s friend Angie flew with us since my wife recently had surgery on her ankle and was unable to fly. We had the chance to observe from the windows beforehand to see what we needed to do which was a tremendous help during the flight! Upon arrival, we filled out paperwork, had our height and weight checked then were off to the training room. The staff worked well together allowing us to get in with very little of a wait time! We went into the training room where we met our instructor, watched a video, and learned all the positions and hand signs we needed to know for flight. We were off to the next stop, getting geared up with flight suits, goggles, earplugs, and helmets. Then we were off to Flyaway in a wind tunnel with 120mph winds! Flying was a HUGE adrenaline rush. I couldn’t stop laughing and yelling “This is AWESOME!!!” ~Cameron, age 14 in the orange fly suit Having never done anything like this before, at first it was a little unnatural to get into some of the relaxed positions that were needed in order to successfully fly. With a little help from the staff and a slight bend of my knees and wrists, I was in the air enjoying the feeling of flying. It was tons of fun for both me and my boys. It is definitely something we would do again! You literally get to fly. It was a great feeling. I loved the adrenaline rush! Not only was the flying fun but it was really fun when they throw you down after flying!! ~Ryan, age 10 in the bright blue fly suit The Staff The instructors were well versed in not only the technical aspects of skydiving but also did a great job in communicating with even first-timers like us! They were extremely helpful and always very positive in their interaction and feedback. Whether a novice or seasoned pro, the staff at Flyaway Indoor Skydiving in Pigeon Forge, TN will ensure quality flight time and a fun-filled adventure.
