If silence is golden, sleep is paradise. Most new parents will tell you about the importance of sleep, especially if they’re not getting enough. Teaching your child to sleep, however, can be more difficult than it sounds. Getting to sleep and staying asleep can sometimes be difficult for little ones – the ABC’s of getting good ZZZs doesn’t come naturally to all of us. This world is a little mixed up right now. In some places, racism has seemingly decreased but in other areas, not so much. Back in 1955, racial segregation was at its peak when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a city bus. Life didn’t change as quickly for African Americans as it should have but it did BEGIN to change their lives for the better. Despite all these changes, there is still SO much racial hate in America. Raising a child of another race (whether they are Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, etc) also brings its own challenges.

Parenting a 12 Year Old is Challenging
Twelve. We now have a twelve-year-old. This is our second experience with having a twelve-year-old and, oh boy, is it a hard year! Looking back, it was a hard year for me. For kids, it seems as though they are always entering a “new phase” from the time they are born until they graduate. Then the phases seem to have wider gaps between them. Each phase comes with new challenges for both the parent and the child. So, why IS twelve such a difficult year for kids? I am going to give you my reasons and what I learned from my now 16-year-old through his twelfth year.
