The Transition from Summer to Fall – Fire Safety Tips

The Transition From Summer to Fall

Fire Safety Tips

With the passing of warm summer days, it’s time to say hello to the cooler temperatures of Autumn. The time for family barbecues and days at the beach is replaced by indoor cooking family game night. The campfire is replaced by a cozy fireplace, we have hot chocolate instead of ice cold drinks, and candles are lit to enhance the atmosphere. Social interaction among family members increases as they begin spending more time indoors. The risk of fire also increases, and fire can get out of control and spread quickly. Because of this, it’s important to have a fire extinguishing device available in the event that it is needed.

Having the First Alert EZ Fire Spray available in your home is the perfect way to ensure the safety of your family and your home. It’s lightweight and so easy to use that all you have to do is point and spray. It has a convenient spray can design with a discharge that lasts four times longer than other extinguishers and is easy to clean up once the danger has passed. It’s small enough to be easily stored, just tuck it away in a cabinet until it’s needed.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), unattended cooking is the #1 cause of residential fire. And more than half of candle fires (59%) are caused by lit candles being placed too close to flammable objects. It’s really important to keep all candles well away from all flammable objects. Never leave a lit candle unattended, especially if you have children and pets in your home.

Many people include candles in their Fall decor. They use scented candles to fill their home with a pleasant fragrance, and place lit candles inside jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. While these practices are cozy and relaxing, it also increases the risk of fire. Extreme caution should always be used to minimize the danger.

Fall can be a wonderful time of the year. It’s one of my favorite seasons. Nothing compares to a big bonfire on a brisk Fall evening, or sitting in your favorite chair in front of the fireplace, all warm and snug with a cup of hot chocolate. The warmth of the fire offers a welcome escape from the chill of the air. Just remember to treat fire with respect. Use safety precautions to keep the fire from getting out of hand, but be prepared with an extinguishing spray in case it does.
