6 Ways to Keep Skin Moisturized During the Cold Winter Months Amy Smith, January 2, 2018December 21, 2022 No One Wants “Winter Skin” – Keeping Skin Moisturized in the Winter Winter is definitely upon us. Most of the United States is feeling the winter chill or should I say winter FREEZE right about now. Here in North Carolina, we typically do not have harsh winters but this one has been a doozy for even us this past week with even more cold temps ahead! The cold, dry air has been doing a number on our skin. Here are some ways that we have found as a family to keep our skin moisturized even on these cold days! Cooler Showers, Less Often I know, I know. This is a hard one for me, too, especially during the winter when all you want is a HOT shower. Hot showers and baths will dry your skin out in a heartbeat! Since sweat is typically not an issue during the winter, consider showering less often. I am typically a two-day shower kind of girl. During the winter, I cut that back to once a day. If you can go longer, more power to you! Make showers as quickly as possible with cooler water to help keep your skin moisturized. Lather up with Lubriderm! I love this stuff! Applying Lubriderm Lotion throughout your day keeps your skin hydrated without the greasy feel! I can’t stand a greasy lotion. As a mom, it always seems like my daughter needs my help opening up the door, my boys need help popping the lid off a jar, or my husband calls right about the time I finish applying lotion on my hands. That is virtually impossible without wiping all the greasy lotion off… unless you are using Lubriderm! The non-greasy formula allows me to keep lotion applied without sacrificing service to my children or answering my husband’s calls. The best part? It works AND it is so reasonably priced that I don’t mind that my daughter pampers herself over and over and over again with “mommy’s lotion”. That is a great thing considering we battle eczema. Keeping her skin hydrated is a HUGE necessity! With the rollback prices at Walmart, you can save big on Lubriderm lotions. She loved it so much that I made another trip to Walmart to pick her up some of the Lubriderm Advanced Therapy to better suit her extra dry skin. I even scored an extra $1 off!! One of my sons has very sensitive skin, Lubriderm also offers products for those with sensitive skin! Lubriderm, made to hydrate every skin type, was created by a pharmacology professor over 60 years ago! A company that has been around that long is one that can be trusted! Run a Humidifier Humidifiers will help more than just your lungs. The automatic thought most people have when they have a cough is… get a humidifier going. When dry skin begins, a humidifier is not typically the first to come to mind. You will be amazed at the difference it makes! Keep Covered When Outside Make sure you wear gloves outside. Keeping your skin from exposure to dry air will help cut down the added dry skin that winter brings. Use Gloves When Cleaning Chemicals in cleaning supplies will dry your skin out regardless of what time of the year it is. When your skin is more prone to being dry, it is great to take any and all extra precautions to prevent further dryness. Grab a pair of gloves to use when washing dishes or cleaning your bathroom! Thanks for the tips! I am having a heck of a time this winter, it has been so COLD!!!! My legs are so itchy I can barely stand it!
These are good suggestions. I should concentrate on the foods that lubricate your skin from the inside! I do the other things.
lubiderm works great! I like that their line of lotions is simple and easy to choose the best one for you.
These are great tips. I’ve never tried Lubriderm. I have always been a Curel fan. But hearing that it is non greasy I am going to have to buy a bottle today and give it a try. I too hate that greasy feeling.

My skin has been getting so dry. These are some great tips to help moisturize our skin. I will try Lubriderm soon. Thank you so much for sharing
That sounds great. I’ve been using O’Keeffe’s Working Hands hand cream when my hands get dry and cracked, but maybe that’s the problem – I let them go too long before taking any action. Maybe I should be using something like Lubnriderm more often, and less of the O’Keeffe’s in emergencies.
This is a huge problem for me, the winter really does a number on my skin, I’ll definitely try to pick this lotion up.
I recently tried a few samples of Lubriderm advanced therapy recently and it really is amazing. I don’t like the feeling of lotion on my skin unless it absorbs quickly and this definitely does that.
