The Finest Hours is based on a true story, and pays tribute to the heroic men and women of the United States Coast Guard! On February 18, 1952, a huge storm hit New England, destroying towns and ships in its path. One of those ships was the SS Pendleton, an oil tanker that was headed for Boston. The storm trapped over 30 Coast Guard members inside. First Assistant Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck) was the ship’s senior member, who told everyone onboard they must work together to ride out the storm as a team. Onshore, Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff (Eric Bana) received word at the United States Coast Guard Station in Massachusetts. The Warrant Officer orders a dangerous rescue, led by Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine) and included Engineman Third Class Andrew Fitzgerald (Kyle Gallner), Seaman Ervin Maske (John Magaro) and Seaman Richard P. Livesey (Ben Foster). The four men risk everything to save the members of the SS Pendleton.
