The Most Precious Gifts Are Handmade Ones That Took Time and Labor
When I got married, my grandmother made my husband and I a beautiful, white afghan. The fact that SHE made it made it extra special to me. I have always been super protective of that blanket. We use it about every day… and we just celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary. Handmade blankets just have something special about them (and seem to last longer than other blankets).
Lately, things have been rather crazy in the Smith house. I had an injury to my ankle resulting in a pretty extensive surgery and a long recovery. Between that and life in general, the first thing that always seems to go out the window is quality family time. Homespun and Hands-On understands the busy life of families as well as the dire need for quality time even in the mix of the hustle and bustle of LIFE!
During the summer months when the kids are home, it’s easy to run out of things to keep them occupied. Kid’s crafts are one of my favorite things to do with my daughter. They’re very inexpensive to make, they keep us both busy for a little while, and the bonding time makes for some great memories that will be passed on for generations. Continue reading
Homemade Slingshot Shoots Far!
My boys are true BOYS. They love shooting their airsoft guns, nerf guns and even slingshots. My oldest son decided he wanted to make his own slingshot. Needless to say, after he made the first one, he begged for me to take him to Walmart to pick up more Gatorade bottles so he could make more for friends. Check out this fun craft for older boys! I don’t typically find crafts that my boys actually enjoy but they LOVE this! All you need is an empty Gatorade bottle, a balloon, a small piece of sandpaper and a small saw! Continue reading
Don’t Forget To Feed Santa’s Hungry Reindeer On Christmas Eve!
Reindeer Food & Sparkles Lead Santa To Your Home
My kids have loved making reindeer food and sparkles every year to make sure Santa comes for Christmas! You KNOW his reindeer must get hungry! They fly all night. Santa gets all the cookies and milk but what about those hard-working reindeer? Well, here is the solution! Of course, it makes for fun memories your children will never forget AND some neat pics.
Plus, it is so simple. All you have to do is mix together oatmeal (food for those hungry reindeer) and glitter sparkles in the night to make sure they can see your house perfectly from way high up in the sky! Mix as much glitter into the oatmeal as your children like! The more the better (for picture purposes).
Now Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixon, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitson…. but do YOU recall the most famous reindeer of all? RUDOLPH will LOVE some red sparkly glitter to match his red nose! Any color works but I bet red is his favorite!
Tell me, What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
